From June 2025, the way Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) are produced in the UK will undergo one of its most significant updates in over a decade.

The launch of RdSAP 10 (Reduced Data Standard Assessment Procedure version 10) will bring in a more detailed and data-intensive approach to assessing the energy performance of homes.

This change is designed to support improved retrofit advice and more accurate energy modelling, but it also means EPC assessments will become more complex, take longer, and in many cases, cost more.

RdSAP 10 introduces up to 50 percent more data input requirements compared to the current version (RdSAP 2012 v9.94). It will require extra detail on insulation, heating controls, ventilation systems, lighting, thermal bridging, renewable technologies, and room-in-roof configurations. This means assessors will need to spend more time on-site collecting data and more time processing results, which could impact appointment availability and turnaround times once the new version is live.

At EPC Surveys North West, we are advising customers to get their EPCs updated before the changes come into effect. A current EPC is still valid for ten years and can support property sales, rentals, or funding applications under the existing rules.

By acting now, you can avoid potential delays or cost increases and ensure your property is assessed using the simpler current version while it's still available.
